Teen in hospital after fight at underage drinking party
An underage drinking party in Harrison has left one teen in the hospital and another under arrest.
Police said they received an anonymous complaint around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday about a house party at 144 Rockwell Ave. Six Harrison High School students became overly intoxicated and one hit his head on a kitchen counter, opening a gash, police said.
Chief David Hall said the group went to Brentwood Park and wanted to take the teen with the injury home, but he refused. One of his friends then punched him, which knocked the 16-year-old out, Hall said.
When the group heard sirens, police said they left their friend lying unconscious in the park. He was rushed to the intensive care unit at Westchester Medical Center and kept overnight for observation.
The teen who threw the punch was charged with assault.
Tuesday's incident mirrors a tragedy from five years earlier, when a punch thrown at an underage drinking party in Harrison ended up killing a teenager.
