In an effort to save 50 city jobs, members of the Teamsters Local 456 met at the union hall Monday night and agreed to halt pay increases until July.
The measure will save five dozen jobs, 46 with the Department of Public Works and four of them in the Parks Department.
Yonkers Mayor Phil Amicone is pleased that city employees will get to keep their jobs and encourages other unions to do the same. In spite of this move, 26 city jobs, which include police officers and firefighters, are in jeopardy of being cut as a result of a $16 million cut in the city?s budget.
