Teacher, teacher's aide charged with rape of students
A female teacher and teacher?s aide are facing rape charges for allegedly having sexual relations with two 16-year-old boys who attend a New Windsor residential special needs school.
Rebecca Becker, 28, is a teacher at the McQuade Children?s Services School and Maria Zurita, 28, is a teacher?s aide and both are married. According to police, Becker, of Walden, and Zurita, of New Windsor, performed sexual acts with the two boys at Zurita?s home over the Memorial Day weekend. One of the students is from Westchester County.
Officials at the school discovered 31 sexually explicit letters written by a Becker to one of the victims. They say both Becker and Zurita have been fired.Both women are charged with third-degree rape and endangering the welfare of a child. They are both free on bail.
