An investigation is under way after a veteran Sleepy Hollow teacher quit amid accusations that he inappropriately touched students.
District officials say a staffer accused Stephen Pitz, 40, of touching students at Winfield L. Morse School. The third-grade teacher was initially assigned to work at home, but quit days before the school year ended.
Pitz, who has 10 years experience as an elementary school educator, was well-liked. Parents say many of their children were crying, and they were left to explain the situation.
Sleepy Hollow police and the Westchester County District Attorney's Office have joined the probe with district administrators.
