A busload of Republicans hopped on the "Tax Cap Express" in Yorktown Tuesday and headed to Albany.The lawmakers want the state Assembly to pass a 4 percent limit on school property tax increases during a special session. The group says New Yorkers are leaving the state because of high property taxes, and it sees the tax cap as a solution and Democrats as part of the problem. "It is time to change the status quo in Albany. Vote for the taxpayers. Vote for the property tax [cap]," says Republican Assembly candidate Bill Gouldman. "The credit card has come off the table. This Legislature is now looking for the checkbook in the wallet of the mom. This is wrong. It has to stop," added Republican Assembly candidate Anthony Pilla. The Republican-led state Senate has already passed the tax cap.
