Residents gathered to remember the Orlando, Florida club shooting victims at a Tarrytown church Tuesday evening, hours after church members say someone stole a gay pride banner hanging outside.
Mourners lit candles and prayed for the 49 people killed at Christ Episcopal Church. At least 50 other people were injured in the attack. There was also a reading of the names of the victims.
Earlier, church members noticed that a gay pride banner flown in support of the victims had been cut down and taken. Organizers ordered more banners.
Three of the victims had ties to New York City. Brenda McCool and Enrique Rios were from Brooklyn. Mercedes Flores was from Queens.
