Some elite swimmers are paddling their way from the Tappan Zee Bridge to the George Washington Bridge today as part of a competition.
The seven-day, 120-mile 8 Bridges Hudson River Swim is the longest swimming marathon in the world. Tuesday marks day six of the race, which began at the Rip Van Winkle Bridge in the Catskills.
Monday's leg took the swimmers from the Bear Mountain Bridge to the Tappan Zee Bridge.
Tuesday's portion of the marathon is 15.7 miles from the Tappan Zee Bridge down to the George Washington Bridge.
Kayakers and boaters guide the swimmers and feed them Powerbars and water to help keep them going.
