At around 5 p.m. Monday, the police SWAT team entered a Tarrytown apartment where a man threatened to open fire and removed him on a stretcher.
The man was holed up on the ninth floor of Franklin Towers at 50 White St., where he was threatening to hurt himself and others with a gun. No gun was ultimately found.
Officers attempted lowering a phone down to make contact with the man while police snipers maintained positions in case the situation turned violent. Officials say the building's residents were evacuated.
The man was ultimately taken away in an ambulance and is being treated in a hospital.
