Suspicious fire destroys historic Croton-on-Hudson mansion
An early morning fire that destroyed a historic Croton-on-Hudson mansion has been ruled suspicious.
When firefighters arrived on the scene Saturday, the fire was raging. They say one side of the mansion was about to collapse so they went with an exterior attack only. The mansion was once owned by a doctor but about 20 years ago he donated the land to the county.
Investigators say the mansion has since become a popular hang out for teens and believe a late night gathering may have led to the fire.
