The man accused in the fatal shooting of rising Mount Vernon basketball star Shamoya McKenzie is seeking release due to coronavirus fears.
Court documents say David Hardy wants to be let out of jail and serve at home over concerns that his asthma makes him vulnerable to COVID-19.
Back in 2016, prosecutors say McKenzie was shot and killed after a bullet, that was meant for someone else, hit her while her mom drove her home from basketball practice.
Hardy is currently awaiting federal trial.
