Suspect in deadly Yonkers stabbing remains on the loose
Police in Yonkers are searching Friday for the person responsible for stabbing a 21-year-old man to death inside a local grocery store.
Police say Karl Smith tried to get away from his attacker but the suspect managed to stab him twice in the chest inside Manny's Grocery store on Jackson Street. They say the incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. Smith's family and friends say he was trying to get his life back on track by working to get his General Educational Development (GED). They say he went to class Thursday but was turned away for being late.
Police say they are not sure what the motive was for the deadly stabbing. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Yonkers Police Department at 914-377-7725.
