People celebrated love, acceptance and inclusion for those in the LGBTQ community Monday night in Haverstraw as a rainbow flag was raised on New Main Street.
The event happened the same day that the Supreme Court ruled in favor of a Colorado baker who refused to make a cake for a gay couple because of religious values.
People at the event say the decision just shows a discussion needs to be made.
"I think that speaks volumes that we're still having this discussion today," says Brooke Malloy, executive director of Rockland County Pride Center.
While attendees say more work needs to be done, they say raising the rainbow flag is just a start to show this community that they will be loved and accepted for who they are.
