Election Day is around the corner, but thousands of New Yorkers have already cast their ballots.

Sunday marked the last day of early voting in the state. It was the first time that New York had ever offered registered voters the chance to vote early.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo signed the early voting legislation in January and urged New Yorkers to participate before Election Day.

Voting started on Oct. 26. As of Saturday, 15,000 people had showed up to cast their ballots ahead of the regularly scheduled Election Day, according to the Democratic commissioner of Westchester's Board of Elections.

The process has been hailed for its convenience, especially for those who cannot make time to get to their usual polling location on Tuesday.

Those who didn’t cast their ballots yet can still return to their normal polling station on Election Day this Tuesday.

Polls open at 6 a.m. and close at 9 p.m.
