As we inch closer to summer and warmer weather, kids are eager to get back to their normal routine and for many that would mean attending day camps.
But there is a question whether or not that will be an option this summer.
Many area day camps are keeping their windows open for enrollment. "In terms of camp directors and parents, I mean everybody at this point is as gung-ho as possible and excited and with the kids home and everything, they're going to need it probably this summer more than any other summer possibly,” says Ed Metzendorf, Next Level Camps owner.
Many parents and camp leaders feel children will need the release after a long quarantine. "So much pent up socializing that needs to happen. It would decrease the pressure and the stress a lot," says mother Karen Haitoff.
Westchester County Executive George Latimer says camps usually held at the County Center will need to be relocated. County-sponsored camps have been put on hold for now.
