Suffern school district unveils Cybersecurity Academy at HS

The three-year program aims to train and prepare graduates to enter the cybersecurity industry.

A Rockland school launched a first-of-its-kind program in the county.

The Suffern Central School District unveiled the Cybersecurity Academy at Suffern High School Wednesday morning.

It's a three-year program that aims to train and prepare graduates to enter that industry's workforce.

News 12 spoke with some of the students who said they have been learning about how to recognize phishing scams, as well as online ethics and morals.

They also feel the skills they’re learning can be used for any industry.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates information security analyst jobs will grow 32% from 2022 to 2032.

The department says that is much faster than average.
