Styrofoam, packing peanuts ban begins in NY on Jan. 1

The goal is to cut down on products made out of non-biodegradable material.

Get ready to get rid of Styrofoam and packing peanuts.
New York state's ban on the shipping products takes effect on Jan. 1.
The new rule doesn't apply to packaging used for raw meat or fish or prepackaged food that's sealed before getting to a food service provider.
The goal is to cut down on products made out of non-biodegradable material.
The ban took effect in New York City in 2019.
