Study: Consolidation could save millions
A two-year study says the consolidation of some southern Westchester fire departments could save a handful of communities millions.
According to professor Michael Genito, of Pace University in White Plains, communities such as Eastchester, Larchmont and Mount Vernon would save $47 million in fire insurance premiums if they merge and pool their resources.
Local residents say any plan that can save taxpayer dollars would be welcome.
