Students across the Hudson Valley rolled up their sleeves Monday so needy families can have a happy Thanksgiving.
Dozens of seventh- and eighth-graders from Solomon Schechter and Mount Carmel Catholic School unloaded about 1,000 turkeys just in time to give to needy families for Thanksgiving.
"I think it's really cool that we are able to give back to the less fortunate and our community so they can have a really nice experience with the holidays, just as good as we can,” said student Alex Jaeger.
The turkeys were donated to the Food Bank of Westchester.
Approximately 200,000 Westchester residents are at risk of hunger.
