Students who live in the dorms and take classes at Purchase College are without heat for a second day Thursday.
School officials say a broken circulation pump in the main heating plant caused the heating system to fail Wednesday morning. The failure affected all of the academic buildings and the dorms, which house approximately 9,000 students. Officials add hot water will be hit or miss while a backup system is used.
Some students say the recent warmer weather has kept the cold out of the buildings. School officials hope to have the heat working again Thursday afternoon.
