Students create 'Wall of Peace' in wake of Paris attacks
A teacher in New Rochelle is using the terror attacks in Paris as a way to teach her students life lessons about empathy.
Issac Young Middle School French teacher Elizabeth Mace has been leading an open discussion about the attacks, in French and English, and is allowing students to express whatever emotions they feel on pen and paper.
These "works of art" are now on display in the main hallway of the school and called "The Wall of Peace."
Mace says she wanted to approach the tragedy and its implications at a level these students could relate to.
"Being able to bring it back to them and just better inform students on how this impacts their life and what they can do to support others, that was the teachable moment," Mace says.
The pictures will remain up for about a week and then will be taken down and sent off to two middle schools in Paris.
