A Bronx teacher says her students and colleagues have been serving as her second family during her battle with breast cancer.

Jennifer Frank, a math and science teacher at M.S. 127, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer on Christmas Eve. Frank says the children and staff at her school have offered both emotional and financial support.

"They've held my hand throughout this whole ordeal," says Frank.

Students and staff spun into action to help the 31-year-old mother and teacher with her struggle. When Frank lost her hair due to chemotherapy, the group supplied her with bandanas. They've also raised about $5,000 for her since she is not being paid while on leave from her job.

"We just want her to know that we care," says student Genesis Cruz. "Anything she goes through, she can always come to us."

Frank says she is incredibly grateful for the support. She could be back teaching in a few weeks if her success with chemotherapy continues.
