A surge in visitors this year on Greenwood Lake may now be putting its swan population in danger.
Police say they are investigating reports of Jet Skiers intentionally trying to hit and harm swans on Greenwood Lake.
The lake spans both Orange County and parts of New Jersey.
Neighbors and wildlife activists say the swans have been under attack – and even injured – for months.
An online petition has been created to help protect the swans.
News 12 was told that the DEC is also investigating.
