An Orange County grandmother is accused of assaulting her 7-month-old granddaughter.
According to the Orange County District Attorney's Office, 43-year-old Kimberly Bennett, of Middletown, has been charged with assault for allegedly beating the baby girl - leaving the infant blind and with brain injuries.
News 12 was told the alleged attack happened back in February at Bennett's home on Bedford Avenue.
Police say they found the baby unresponsive with facial bruising, and severe damage to her brain and eyes.  News 12 was told that the little girl ultimately lost her vision.
Investigators say Bennett was the baby's primary caregiver.
She is currently being held at the Orange County Jail.
If convicted, Bennett faces up to 25 years in state prison.
