Residents across the Hudson Valley are bracing for a potentially dangerous day of weather.
In Yonkers, the Hillside Avenue neighborhood was one of hundreds of areas in the region that got slammed earlier this month with the Tropical Storm Isaias.

The storm brought down trees and power lines and people were without electricity for close to a week.
As a result, the governor is now directing state agencies to deploy their emergency response assets early.
So in preparation for today’s expected severe storms, Central Hudson Gas and Electric is offering up some tips so you can do your part and be prepared.
  • Make sure your cellphone, tablet and other electronic devices are charged up.
  • Make sure your flashlight is handy, with a fresh set of batteries.
  • Avoid using candles because they can spark a fire.
  • And if you have to leave the house, watch out for fallen tree limbs and downed wires.
  • Never, ever touch downed wires, you just don't know if they're live.

June and Wayne Kniffen are a bit worried about the weather heading toward the Hudson Valley later today. They lucked out last time around with Tropical Storm Isaias.  But many of their neighbors did not.
So it's always good to prepare just in case you get hit hard. That's why June and Wayne say they're heading out early.
“I just have to go ShopRite today and just get basic stuff and get some more batteries, and just stay in the house. And you do it before the weather gets here,” says June.
