Residents abided by health protocols across the region to ensure they celebrated July Fourth safely.
Events like the fireworks display Palisades Credit Union Park in Pomona helped residents make safety a priority while celebrating Independence Day.
Gil Heim, who attended the show, says, "We've been cramped up since March 13th. Just playing it safe and we just hope everybody else plays it safe so that we can move forward coming this fall."
The drive-in idea is part of a new concept to keep people entertained while safe. Attendees parked in every other spot and wore face masks and practice social distancing when they were out of their cars.
"We've tried to innovate and give people something to do, while staying in the safety of their cars or near their cars," says President of the New York Boulders Shawn Reilly. "It looks like it's not going to change anytime soon, so we'll try to give people a place to go to where its safe."
Health protocols were also implemented at Playland Beach in Rye.
The beach, which normally accommodates up to 1,300 visitors, operated at 50% capacity due to coronavirus restrictions.
Officials said physical activities, like Frisbee throwing or ball playing, were prohibited.
Ushers patrolled the sands to enforce social distancing protocols among the beachgoers, who were also required to wear face masks.
The beach was only opened to Westchester County residents.
