If hiking is your type of day off, then hop in because we're heading to Bear Mountain State Park in News 12’s latest Road Trip Close to Home.
COVID-19 hasn't closed everything at Bear Mountain. In fact, the park's biggest attractions, the trails and picnic areas, are open for you to enjoy!
You'll just want to start your day early, because the entrance closes once the parking lot reaches capacity.
From sun up to sun down, you can break a sweat exploring dozens of pathways that highlight nature's beauty in the Hudson Valley. “It's about a three hour hike up and down; it's fantastic, and beautiful!" says Jan Cobb, a hiker.
"On a clear day you'd be staring at the New York City skyline and just great views of the Hudson Valley up and down," says Dave Bourne, Bear Mountain State Park manager.
Bourne says to pack a lunch, bring some towels to stretch out on, and even a grill so you can have a picnic in the park. "Bring your food, bring your snacks if you're going to for a hike."
