A New Paltz police officer was placed on administrative leave over rap lyrics criticized as being transphobic.
Bob Sisco uploaded a video of himself rapping, saying, "There's only two genders and Trump is still your president. Boys have a penis and girls have a vagina."
The Town of New Paltz says in a statement, "The New Paltz police has initiated an internal investigation and will be working closely with the police commissioner to explore and direct responsive action in this matter."
Jeff Rindler-Jordan, with the Hudson Valley LGBTQ Community Center, says not only is the language offensive, but says Sisco thought he was being casual and clever.
He says that the center had hosted cultural responsiveness training with the police department within the past year.
Rindler-Jordan says such behavior needs to be met with disciplinary action immediately.
