Classes at one private school in Orange County appear to be back in session - despite schools not officially being reopened.
Viewer video captured kids with backpacks, no masks and busy buses dropping off students at private yeshiva Bais Rochel in Kiryas Joel Tuesday.
This isn't the first report of a school reopening in Kiryas Joel against state law during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Last month, the United Talmudical Academy was issued a cease and desist two days after News 12 first reported that students were seen inside despite the executive order, keeping students home from school elsewhere in the state since March.
In that situation, state police said at first that it had no authority to enforce the executive order, despite Gov Andrew Cuomo repeatedly saying that it's up to local governments to enforce the law, which includes fines.
News 12 reached out again to state police, the Village of Kiryas Joel, its school district and county officials for information and comment, but despite multiple calls and emails has not heard back.
