The city of New Rochelle PBA issued a statement of support for the officers involved in the fatal police shooting of 24-year-old Kamal Flowers.
The shooting happened Friday night near the intersection of Potter Avenue and Pierce Street.
In a statement on the association's Facebook page, they say, “Despite the tragic outcome, we stand by the actions and efforts of our police officers. We believe our officers make every effort to determine the parameters of their authority, and believe that, in this matter, they acted within the limitations of the law and pursuant to their lawful police authority."
"There's no doubt that these police officers and our association regret what happened, but there was no alternative except the death of our police officer in that exact moment based upon what we know so far,” says New Rochelle PBA President Chris Greco.

According to police, Flowers was a passenger in a car that was stopped Friday night when he took off on foot. Officers say he pointed this 9 mm pistol at them.
"The public needs to know that the individual, according to the facts released by the New Rochelle Police Department, is that Mr. Flowers was indeed armed with a loaded weapon, pointed that weapon at a police officer and attempted to assassinate him,” says Greco.
Friends and family gathered Sunday in Flowers’ memory, as his older brother, Henderson Clarke, continues to speak out about his brother's death.

"I want everybody to remember his name, Kamal Flowers, he was brutally murdered by one of New Rochelle Police Department officers, they're not here to protect and serve,” alleges Clarke.
