Coral Sea Pools in Briarcliff Manor say phones have been ringing non-stop due to the region entering phase 1 of reopening.
Since late March, pool construction has been halted due to the pandemic, impacting local companies like Coral Sea Pools.
Owners Anna and Anthony Torchia say customers are looking to begin construction immediately.
The mother and son duo say backyard pools are on the rise.
"The way people would spend money vacationing and doing stuff in the summer they are just putting it in their backyards,” says Anthony Torchia.
News 12 is told the company’s website traffic has increased by 150%, and many families want a source of recreation closer to home.
"They want their backyard to be a place for their family,” says Anna Torchia.
Due to the business offering pool maintenance, they were able to stay afloat during the pandemic’s trying times.
With minimal layoffs, Coral Sea Pools is looking to hire more staff members.
The owners say they hope the economic boom leads to long-term growth.
"Pools are recession-proof…that's one thing they look forward too regardless of anyone's financial situation…,” says Anthony Torchia.
Most pool construction companies are experiencing a backlog of projects that have recently entered the production phase.
