A Hudson Valley company is reimagining how it does business to help its community during the global pandemic.
For 60 years, New Crystal Restoration in Port Chester has been helping Westchester families and businesses get life back to normal after disasters such as fires and floods. It also is involved in the cleanup of mold, asbestos and germ decontamination.
The family-owned business has dealt with MRSA and H1N1, but says it has never dealt with anything like COVID-19.
However, it quickly pivoted from its restoration services to COVID-19 containment.
"Early on in the pandemic, we saw that people were starting to get ill, and there was going to be a need to help out individuals and our community with cleaning services,” says New Crystal Restoration owner Lisa Cordasco.
The environmentally friendly company is now helping to decontaminate hospitals, offices and even places like Dunkin’.
The demand for New Crystal Restoration services has risen so dramatically since the start of the coronavirus that the company has had to hire dozens of new employees.
“The positions that we're hiring for right now are mostly janitorial-cleaning type staff, individuals that have experience with disinfecting and decontamination services,” says Cordasco.
