First responders are putting themselves at risk every day fighting an invisible enemy while most people are urged to stay home.

Max Goldberg is a 12-year veteran of the Eastchester EMS. He told News 12 this is the highest volume of calls the department has ever seen for a virus - making up 21% to 38% of their call volume a day.

EMS call volume increased by 9% from the last week in February to the last week in March.

Not every patient has been tested for coronavirus, so 911 dispatchers are vetting each emergency call for warning signs of the virus. Even the smallest concern is sounding the alarm for full protection.

Just over a month since coronavirus hit New York, Westchester County has more than 14,000 cases as of Monday.
