Regeneron begins shipping COVID-19 testing kits
Increased coronavirus testing is now available in New York state.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced that Tarrytown-based Regeneron has begun shipping hundreds of thousands of testing kits.
The governor added he will now close down New York City playgrounds. Open spaces will still be available for fresh air and sunshine.
A grim new estimate funded by the Gates Foundation says 16,000 New Yorkers could die from the virus, and a high death rate could last through July.
While there are more than 83,000 positive cases in the state, more than 6,000 of those patients have been discharged from the hospital.
