An East Rockaway couple had to change their wedding plans because of the coronavirus pandemic. But they still tied the knot, and their friends still found a way to send well wishes.
Danielle and John were supposed to have their wedding Friday at the Watermill in Smithtown. But even with that out of the realm of possibility, Danielle's father couldn't let the special day just pass by.
"Well I figured we'd have a social distance wedding. So I made sure everybody was 6 feet apart limited to very few family members," says Frank Keane.
Danielle says her father spent Thursday measuring and spacing everything out. The wedding even had hand sanitizer right before walking out into the backyard.
Danielle's grandmother had to watch her granddaughter get married from the window, but they made sure she felt the love.
But since all family and friends couldn't make the ceremony, they had a parade celebration instead.
"We wanted her to have it, we were hoping at the last second that it wouldn't be canceled but unforeseen circumstances for everybody in the world right now, and we're just happy that she still had her day," says Garren's cousin Dakota Terenzi.
This ceremony still had plenty of the mainstays of a wedding day -- with dancing, rice throwing and bubbles.
The couple has another ceremony planned with family and friends in September.
