News 12's Lisa LaRocca details personal coronavirus scare

Posted: Updated:

Veteran News 12 reporter Lisa LaRocca is sharing her personal experience on what it’s like to get tested for coronavirus.

LaRocca says she came down with flu-like symptoms last week and began self-quarantine.

She called the state hotline to schedule testing, but didn’t receive a call back for four days.

In the meantime, she was able to get tested without an appointment at a drive-through facility. Luckily, her test came back negative.

Her main advice for others who are frustrated as they wait to get tested is to remain patient.

"There is unfortunately not a lot you can do, you just kind of have to stay patient while all this," she says. "We've been reporting is minute by minute."

There are currently two mobile testing sites in the region, in New Rochelle and Stony Point.

To get tested, please call your health care provider who can put in a request for testing or contact the mobile testing appointment hotline at 888-364-3065 for a future appointment.
