The mandated closure of large concert venues in Westchester has been a blow to music fans, but the director at Tarrytown Music Hall is confident they will get through these hard times.
Dweezil Zappa, Melissa Etheridge, Kevin James and a Queen cover band are just some of the tops acts that were slated to perform at Tarrytown Music Hall in the coming months before the coronavirus pandemic upended the entire schedule.
Bjorn Olsson, executive director of the Tarrytown Music Hall, says they are trying to postpone some of the shows until the fall. He says some are even postponed until next year.
Shows at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester have also been postponed and the venue has completely shut down. A sign on the marquee urges people to stay safe.
Singer Sheryl Crow was among some of the big name artists who were booked to perform.
News 12 spoke to the Capitol Theatre’s general manager, Bruce Wheeler, by phone who said they are following all state-mandated guidelines regarding the coronavirus.
"We feel that following these protocols are the smartest steps forward for us, for the foreseeable future," says Wheeler.
Officials at the Tarrytown Music Hall say they are confident they will get through these challenging times like they have in the past.
"In 1918, there was the big flu epidemic and whoever was running the theatre back then, was probably sitting in the same spot I am now. When the theatre was dark and empty, wondering how it's going to go. But the theatre will be here, we'll get through this crisis and the next one,” says Olsson.
