Thornwood restaurant gives away free foodPosted: Updated:
A Westchester restaurant is doing its best to make St. Patrick’s Day feel as normal as possible.
The Barley House in Thornwood is closed for sit-down service, but is still serving up traditional Irish fare “to-go” meals.
Instead of letting their food go to waste, the restaurant is offering free hot meals for anyone in need.
“We’re fully prepped, stocked, and ready to go for what’s normally a very busy week here, so we thought the best course of action was to just donate some hot meals and meals-to-go to people who really don’t know where they’re going to get their next one,” says Barley House owner Bobby Harris.
The restaurant is preparing hundreds of corned beef and cabbage meals as well as soups and salads for takeout.
The future of the restaurant and its employees is uncertain, but they’re trying to keep operations as normal as possible for at least one more day.
