A fire caused serious damage to a multi-family home in Peekskill Wednesday night.
Fire officials say the flames broke on 1214 Main St. around 7:20 p.m.
They say firefighters rushed into the building after being told there were children trapped on the second floor of the house. However, the children had exited safely before their arrival.
The flames took crews about an hour to bring under control.
Four firefighters were brought to the hospital with minor injuries and smoke inhalation. One firefighter is being held overnight for observation and should hopefully be released tomorrow. The other three have been released and sent home.
At least 20 people have been displaced. The Red Cross was on the scene to assist those affected.
There is no word yet on the cause.
