A letter was sent home to parents informing them that a student at the school was in close proximity to a person who has a case of coronavirus. According to the letter, both the person who tested positive for COVID-19 and the student are not showing any symptoms so far.

County health department officials have asked the student to self-quarantine. In the meantime, officials say the school is closed for at least today and tomorrow while crews will do a special sanitized cleaning of the building.

Cleaning is also taking place in districts such as Scarsdale, which now has a district-wide school closure. All schools are closed and all after school activities have been canceled starting today through March 18.

According to district officials, a teacher at the middle school tested positive for coronavirus and is experiencing mild symptoms.

In Rockland County, all East Ramapo schools are closed until tomorrow after five students have been quarantined for exposure to coronavirus. County health officials say none of the children are showing any symptoms at this time.

The Keio Academy in Purchase is closed for the rest of the school year.
