Two employees of Iona College are under self-quarantine amid the coronavirus outbreak in Westchester.

 

In a statement, the school says the workers started isolating themselves in their homes Thursday.

According to an Iona College spokesperson, they are following national and local health guidelines that suggest in any instance of potential exposure, to go under self-quarantine.

Students says it's surprising to see the global outbreak hit their school.

"It's shocking and just like a little scary cause like we're so close to it," says Kayla Pepe.

 

 

There is no word on whether or not the two individuals have been tested or if anyone else on campus is at risk.

Iona College sent out a statement Thursday saying that a number of spring trips have been canceled.

The school is remaining open, but a number of other schools closed out of precaution.

As of Thursday, both the Mount Vernon and Hastings-on-Hudson school districts, Yeshiva University and the Westchester Torah Academy closed through at least Friday. The SAR High School and Elementary School in the Bronx will be closed through March 11.
