There were 11 known new coronavirus cases in New York state through Thursday evening, with eight of them in New Rochelle.
They join the 10 cases that were confirmed in Westchester as late as Wednesday night. That includes an attorney from New Rochelle, his wife, their two kids and a neighbor. A family friend of the attorney was also confirmed to have coronavirus, along with his wife and their children.
According to the governor, the eight new cases are also connected to the attorney’s original infection. They are being quarantined and treated in their homes.
Cuomo did not say where in Westchester the new cases are from, but did say an employee at Lawrence Hospital in the Bronx, where the attorney was initially cared for, did test positive.
Two Iona College employees put themselves in a self-quarantine Thursday as well. The college sent out a statement saying that a number of spring trips have been canceled and the two employees isolated themselves in their homes. There was no word on if they have been tested or if any students are at risk.
The school is still open.
Late Thursday night, the Maple Medical group in White Plains notified its patients that one of its physicians has tested positive for the coronavirus. The case has not disclosed by any officials at this point.
As of Thursday, both the Mount Vernon and Hastings-on-Hudson school districts, Yeshiva University and the Westchester Torah Academy will be closed through Friday.
The S.A.R. high school and elementary school in the Bronx will be closed through March 11.
Two new cases in New York City and the first confirmed case on Long Island in Nassau County were announced earlier in the day.

The total number of coronavirus infections is now 22 statewide. Officials expect that number to continue to rise.
"We're going to take it a day at a time. We are going to take it incident at a time," said Westchester County Executive George Latimer. "We're all in this together.”
He says New Rochelle has shown "great cooperation" so far, along with the rest of the state’s municipalities.
