Neighbors say they are taking precautions, including using hand sanitizers, wipes and soap to keep their hands clean. They are also staying home if they don't feel well.

Mail carriers around the city say they are using their own preventative methods to stay healthy.

"I was told that the coronavirus was in New Rochelle, so I made sure to put gloves on underneath my gloves and put my mask on, I don't know if it's going to help but -- anything I could do to try and make myself safe out here -- that's what I'm trying to do right now," says mail carrier Chris White.

Many of the neighbors said they are stocking up on the essentials and trying to take things one day at a time.
