Posted: Updated:

Today is a big day for members of the Yonkers Police Department as 12 members of the force were promoted.

Mayor Mike Spano, Deputy Mayor Jim Cavanaugh and Police Commissioner John Mueller were on hand to swear in the honorees at Yonkers City Hall.

Sgt. Jamie Dumser was promoted to lieutenant and  Sgt. Paul Api was appointed to detective sergeant.

Four officers were promoted to sergeant and all thanked their families for their support. "Just trying to use everything that my parents instilled in me and use that along with my experiences as a police officer as a sergeant to try and teach people that I'll be now supervising,"  says Sgt. Nicholas Minichino.

Six other department members were recognized for prior promotions and appointments including members of the field services and investigations bureau.
