Union Township native creates virtual museum dedicated to ‘World’s Tallest Watersphere’

A Union Township native who has a slight obsession with a 212-foot water tower in the town, is doing his best to preserve its legacy.
News 12 New Jersey's Brian Donohue first reported on Dan Becker about a year ago. Becker, who now lives in Austin, Texas, runs a website dedicated to the water tower, deemed the “World’s Tallest Watersphere” in the world.
Becker has long joked about maintaining the world’s only museum dedicated to the water tower from his home. But he has now gone a step further, declaring by a tongue-in-cheek press release that the museum is struggling with traffic and crowd size, so he has launched a virtual museum dedicated to the beloved landmark.
The virtual museum is complete with photos of the interior of the “mythical museum,” a floorplan and exhibits on how the water tower works. There is also art inspired by the water tower and photographs taken of the tower over the years.
Folks can learn more about the water tower and tour the virtual museum at WorldsTallestWatersphere.com.
