A water main break in Rockland County Thursday night prompted a boil water advisory.
The water main break took place on Rosman Road in Thiells. Almost 300 Thiells families are faced with buying bottled water or boiling their water first after Suez warned residents there could be harmful organisms in the water because of the loss of pressure.
Suez advised customers to boil their water for at least one minute before drinking, cooking, washing dishes, brushing teeth or washing food.
Suez says it will collect water samples to monitor the water safety.
It could take up to 3 to 5 days to get results.
