News 12 viewers pick 'Joker' to win Oscar for Best Picture
If News 12 viewers are correct then "Joker" will win top prize at the Oscars.
According to a News 12 poll, 36% of viewers believe Todd Philips' take on the Batman villain will win Best Picture. "1917" finished with 25% of the vote while both "The Irishman" and "Once Upon a Time....In Hollywood" got 13%.
A win for 'Joker' may mean that Joaquin Phoenix will win his first Oscar for acting. He is leading the pack of leading men with 67% of the vote. Leonardo DiCaprio was next with just 16% of the vote.
Renee Zellweger leads the race for Best Actress in a Leading Role with 30% of the vote for her portrayal of Judy Garland in "Judy." Charlize Theron took 21% of the vote for her portrayal of Megyn Kelly in "Bombshell."
The races for actor and actress in a supporting role are both nail biters. News 12 viewers are narrowly picking Brad Pitt with 33% of the vote over Tom Hanks with 31% of the vote.
Laura Dern and Kathy Bates are both tied with 27% for their performances in "Marriage Story" and "Richard Jewell" respectively. Scarlett Johansson is close behind with 26% of the vote for her role in "Jojo Rabbit."
Viewers expect Todd Philips to win best director. While Philips got 29% of viewers' support, Sam Mendes has 27% of the vote for "1917."
