Berkeley College in White Plains is taking initiative to address coronavirus concerns and lay out ways to prevent it.
Dozens of community officials and students attended the forum.
"When you understand the situation, it gives you the power to protect yourself and those that you care about," said Sherlita Amler, the Westchester County commissioner of health. "I can tell you right now that you're more likely to die from influenza than you are to die from coronavirus."
Students say addressing the coronavirus head-on is a step in the right direction.
“I think my school did a really good job at actually bringing this to light because a lot of schools are just mentioning it and that's it and just throwing it to the side," says student Gerson Rodriguez.
Knowing that the common flu is more prevalent than the coronavirus in the U.S. is the reason officials at the forum are highly recommending the community go get their flu shots.
