Posted: Updated:

A man was caught on camera trying to break into a house in Yonkers.

A Yonkers resident says he was inside his residence in a two-story home on Hancock Avenue around 11:45 p.m. on Dec. 26 when a security camera caught a man attempting to break into his neighbors’ home above him.

"My neighbors called me and said to just go upstairs and check...I went upstairs, came back down, two seconds later they said someone’s on the deck, they are trying to break in,” said the resident.

The man is seen on the neighbor’s security system sliding the screen door open.

Police say when they arrived, the suspect had already fled and damaged the door. However, they say the person left empty-handed.

Yonkers police ask anyone who recognizes the man or has information about the incident to contact Yonkers Police Department at 914-377-7900.
