Rockland residents are remembering a Spring Valley native who was training to be a U.S Customs and Border Patrol agent in Georgia.
Ruben "Wolf" Valmond, an Albertus Magnus High School graduate, was shot to death at a Georgia bar over the weekend.
The incident occurred Sunday morning during an altercation, just weeks away from Valmond becoming an agent.
Jason Cantave, of New Hempstead, says he and Valmond attended high school in Bardonia and played varsity football together.

“He was the smallest guy on the football field with the biggest heart. And he played every down. He never stopped until the whistle blew,” says Cantave.

Friends recall Valmond’s unflagging loyalty, his love of life and his love for his wife, Latoya, and their 8-year-old daughter, Genesis.
Calvin Jenkins, 27, and Naasir Kurmue, 25, were arrested in the events surrounding Valmond’s death.

Friends say they are planning a memorial for Valmond at Albertus Magnus High School. It should take place sometime next year.
A GoFundMe page for Valmond’s wife and daughter has been set up.
