A main break spewed tens-of-thousands of gallons of raw sewage into the Hudson River - for hours.

Emergency crews were on the scene of the major water main break on Kemeys Avenue in Ossining as thousands of gallons of raw sewage poured into the Hudson River.

The break happened around 10 a.m. Sunday, up the road from the Kemeys Cove Pump Station.

An estimated 15,000 gallons of raw sewage poured into the neighboring Hudson River every hour.

Sewage from Ossining runs through a pump station where it's pushed up a hill and into the Ossining Water Treatment Plant. County officials are using four 6,000-gallon trucks to manually move the water to that plant.

County health officials do not believe there's enough sewage to cause harm to the river. Residents should still avoid coming in contact with the sewage.

Road closures in the area could affect traffic on Monday morning.
